Only Alessandro Michele could make an intergalactic animal jacket look this good.
One of Alessandro Michele’s many talents is to surprise us again and again, especially when we think we finally have him figured out. It’s the reason his reign at Gucci has been so wildly successful and best exemplified by this jacket. It’s a piece so uncommon, so unique that there’s no question who’s behind it. And while we’re used to Michele’s all-in menswear, this jacket takes that ethos to the max. Michele is well-known for his use of animal motifs and prints, both of which are on display here in a print featuring creatures real and mythical floating around some planets. What keeps this on the right side of kitsch-y is that the pattern is housed in a slim silky bomber silhouette, with arm stripes and a banded collar, cuffs, and hem. Their touches that ground the garment in reality and make it plenty wearable for today.
When you’re wearing something as eye-catching as a jacket like this, you can do two things: you can make it the center of attention by wearing it with neutral layers or—and this is what we’d suggest—you can lean into it’s over-the-top-ness hard and wear it with equally bold layers. You could wear it with a hot pink hoodie and jeans. You could wear it with a logo tee and track-stripe pants. However you wear it, just make sure you wear it with confidence. Because if there’s one thing Michele’s clothes guarantee, it’s that you’re going noticed in them.
